MS 150 trip

The trip down to Texas for the MS-150 was awesome! I had a great time and it was a very fun and memorable trip!

My buddy Marcin and I drove down Friday night and stayed at the Hampton Inn about 12 miles from the start line. (I booked the wrong Hampton :P) Had some pizza Friday night with my coworker Peter and crashed. Saturday was filled with pedalling. The sun never came out. It was overcast all day. Which was just fine for me!

Lunch stop. Look at all the bikes! It filled a parking lot!

I made it the whole 86 miles the first day without a hitch. No dehydration, no flat tires, no broken chain, no lack of food, fun or support.

I finished pedalling after nearly 5 hours in the saddle. Not the fastest pace but I thought I had another day to go. I'd never gone past 32 miles. And I had no idea what kind of pace I could do for 86 miles.

Two minutes after Peter and I crossed the finish line it started to hail. We ran to my truck and squeezed two sweaty guys and one Polack in.

Sunday got rained out. We heard about it late Saturday that they had canceled the second day. So we decided to have dinner, a drink and crash at the hotel rather than drive home. The rain must have been pretty bad because it made the satelite system in the bar go bad.

Marcin and I drove back Sunday after visiting Ikea. Overall a good, laid back trip. I can't wait to do another event. Hopefully the kids can go next time. The kids and Jennie didn't make the trip due to the Swine Flu scare.

Cheers,
